Have you seen shake flashlights that look like these two models?...
We have received two models from different suppliers, and in both cases these flashlights used hidden batteries to boost their performance!
That's right, these are not pure shake flashlights!
Since we first exposed these lights for what they really are, the manufacturers have begun to market them as 'Hybrid' flashlights, but with such small batteries that are either very difficult or impossible to replace, they are not practical as even battery flashlights.
Not all models will do so, but with all these manufacturers stealing each other's designs, you really don't know what you are getting.
Does it matter?
Yes! Even rechargeable batteries will eventually fail within a few years, especially if they are left in a discharged state for months in a drawer. When they do, they will likely disable the charging circuit and render the flashlight useless!
Our tests also showed the base performance of the shake charging function & LED brightness to be no better than the Micro Forever Flashlight performance as shown in our Comparison Chart.
Who are they trying to fool?
These flashlights also use a standard on/off button which cannot be promoted as 'intrinsically safe', they are not completely sealed & waterproof, they use rubber bumpers for the magnet that wear-out, they use low-grade LEDs, they use weak charging components.
More reasons for choosing a ShakeLight:20 or ShakeLight:60 true magnetic shake flashlight.
Remember, the ShakeLight:20 & ShakeLight:60 offer...
Completely sealed construction (cannot be opened)
Magnetic Reed switch (luminescent, and without compromising case seal)
Repulsing magnet bumpers (for low wear)
Powerful full-size charging coils & magnet (maximum charge per cycle)
Ultra-capacitor charge storage device (for extremely long life)
High-grade LED light element (maximum light for minimum power)
