The grasshopper's back is a solar panel which sends power directly to a micro DC motor. When the motor spins, it makes the little critter buzz & bounce around. The stronger the sunlight, the faster he vibrates. Summer sun works best of course. We tried a few out before adding them to our catalog, and they are built very well.
